Welcome to our very first encaustic wax worked texture Pack ! We noticed how popular waxing photographic prints had become some time ago and made a note to ourselves to do something along those lines, then this year the right time finally came about and we kitted ourselves up with loads of natural beeswax, natural pigment powders, bookbinding irons and blow guns, heated trays and bain maries, quite a job just to get kitted out! Then came the fun bit, hot and smelly but surprisingly enjoyable once all the windows were opened!
Both of us are familiar with bee keepers as Jill’s father had been a bee keeper for many years in New Zealand and Jill has many family photographs on Getty from those happy days. I on the other hand, have been associated with
Bermondsey street bees in London, shooting Dale, my now famous beekeeping mentor on his roof with his hives, also for Getty.
Through that experience and our recent encaustic endeavours I now want to keep bees myself and am currently kitting myself out with all the gear needed to start beekeeping myself in early spring next year.
The Flypaper Waxworks Pack contains 50 textures; 49 rectangles and one square, their sizes vary but most are around 4000-5000 px on their shortest side and of course they are at industry printing standard 300ppi.
All our textures can be used in any editing programme that supports the use of layers, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Gimp etc You can also use our textures on your iPad, Android and smart phones if you have the Photoshop Touch app installed. You can only use them in Lightroom if you use an add-on that allows Lightroom to use layers such as Perfect Layers.
