A freezing walk on our local French beach with friends and their dogs over the weekend, produced this simple image. The glow of the cold mid-winter sun warmed by applying several flypaper textures and this time, no colour tweaks!I’m typing this whilst looking out over gently falling snow flakes,Europe and this, our northern Mediterranean coastline […]
Another shot taken on a walk on the lovely Doctors Point Beach just to the north of Dunedin. These same people appear in a similar shot but I processed this one quite differently which shows how a different textures can give the same scene a whole new look. As well as some Flypaper Textures, I […]
About a month ago I visited a local beach with my son, intending to take photos of him but when we looked over the sand dunes we were surprised to see this pair of NZ Sea Lions a short distance away. Naturally I rushed back to the car to exchange my short lens for a […]
Hot off the camera….Taken on a lovely walk on the beach this evening -there was some dramatic storm light and the sea looked amazing and even if my photos didn’t do the scene justice, it was great just to be there. This one looked okay before but I thought I’d see what I could do […]
We were contacted by the lovely Kayla from Digiscrap101 a while back, she wanted to do a tutorial using our textures, and of course we were happy to oblige. Here they are, hot off the press and it’s very easy to follow.Enjoy:-) Photoshop CS3 Video Photoshop Elements Video:
Another day another beach! I took this last weekend when we went for a quick walk at Doctors Point near Dunedin. Since my family isn’t cooperative when it comes to photos I have to make the most of any opportunities when it comes to getting some human interest in my photos, taking photos of distant […]
As requested, we now start to tackle live subjects! This image is from a shoot with a charming Danish Family. Its hard to believe that just a month ago we were still sea bathing! I don’t recommend standing in the sea with an expensive camera, but if that’s what it takes to get a natural shot, who […]
Another from a visit to the beach the other day!Quite a bit of work went into this one to get the “look” I wanted.First I duplicated the background and blurred it using a lens blur, and using a layer mask removed some of the blur from the central portion of the photo. The textures I used […]
To spice up this Thai beach landscape I used just one Flypaper texture,Apple Crumble @ Full Blur filter mode and Overlay @ 82%. This resort was badly damaged by the tsunami several years ago. Many locals and visitors lost their lives. Patong in Phuket, pictured above was also the location for the opening scenes from’The Beach’ […]
Anyone who follows my photos will know I love walking on the beach and we’re so lucky here to have so many readily accessible beaches nearby. This was taken on a stormy day back in May when there was a dramatic big surf and stormy sky. The original photo included the top of a small […]
A simple use of Flypapers Raw Linen in full blur mode.Blend hard light Opacity was 100%, fill Opacity @ 94% Necropolis texture was used to finish.Blend soft light 48% and fill opacity @ 57%. Just these two textures were used to create an almost ‘sepia effect’ of a visitor, perhaps from the past.
To enliven this dragonfly in front of an ‘out of focus’ sand dune,I simply added several layers of flypaper’s ‘Nora batty’At various mixes.
Here I used our ‘Necropolis’ texture very lightly.By simply running your mouse over the image you’ll see before and after the textures were applied!
Nora Batty (inspired by the BBC’s ‘Last of the summers wine’) was used here to illustrate Logistics or Summers End, when our local beach shack cafe was removed 🙁
Again, I think its a simple use of our ‘Nora Batty’ texture overlay.
This texture is a favorite, I’ve only used it once here, but we’re planning on bringing more out asap!It was named ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ as it brings to mind a crumpled letter. See it on Flickr
A golden dog on a golden beach, enhanced by our wonderful “Nora Batty” texture 🙂 See it on Flickr
