With our new painterly pack, we’ve tried to go back to basics, by creating the kind of organic textures the early Pictorialists would have felt comfortable with. In turn, the pictorialists tried to emulate in-camera what their contemporaries the Impressionist painters were doing, trying to capture the atmosphere of a scene rather than all the pin-sharp details photographs are so good at.
Whilst trialing these textures we found they worked best by adding textural interest to your image’s negative space, we’ve further beefed up these textures by incorporating our palette-knifed modelling Jesso textured boards and canvases as a base. Thus adding a slight three-dimensional feel to this pack.
We’ve also managed, with your constant feedback, to make these textures as big as possible, mostly around 5000x7000px minimum.
The Pictorialist Painterly pack contains 55 textures, mostly in a landscape format. Their size is at a minimum of 7000 by 4600 px and are at industry printing standard in 300ppi. To view the textures a little larger hop over to the product page and click on the mosaic image in the gallery.
All our textures can be used in any editing program that supports the use of layers, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Gimp etc You can also use our textures on your iPad, Android and smartphone if you have a suitable app installed. You can only use them in Lightroom if you use an add-on that allows Lightroom to use layers such as Perfect Layers
